We lost our beloved Spenser due to IVDD January 29th, 2021. We are grieving sausagedog parents who want to spread knowledge about the importance of x-ray screening to reduce the prevalence of IVDD in dachshunds as a breed. We couldn’t save our Spenser and nothing will bring him back, but we can do everything in our power to reduce IVDD in dachshunds, so that future sausagedogs have a better chance in life.
We’re not specialists, we’re pawrents, but we’ve been lucky enough to have the support of a vet and other specialists in making this website. Big thanks!
We’re also especially indebted to the article Herniated Discs “Slipped Discs” with the Short Legged Breeds, by Helle Friis Proschowsky.
Please help us spread the knowledge—let’s save the breed together!
All the best,
Victor&Emma
Because Spenser was English and Norwegian and there’s a strong link between the UK and Scandinavia in the fight against IVDD, we’ve also made a Scandinavian website in Norwegian that you can access here:
